A Prize Bond is a lottery bond, a non-interest bearing security issued on behalf of the Pakistan Ministry of Finance by the National Savings Bond.

These lottery bonds are issued as a revenue or reverse payment to people of Pakistan for the taxes they pay. From the perspective of The Government of Pakistan, National Prize Bond Scheme was initiated in year 1960, in order to borrow money from the public at cheaper rates and give cash prizes via lucky draws.

The Government of Pakistan borrows and earns billions of rupees but sadly, prize money conferred to investors is very little. Every draw is held quarterly; however, no interest or profit is given on these bonds.

Every quarter the lucky winners are announced via lucky draws. These lucky draws are held in major cities of Pakistan, about 36 times annually. According to numbers, every year 70,600 Pakistanis win Rs. 1.6 billion rupees in prize money.

Prize Bond Schedule

Prize Bond Schedule is different every year, there are no fixed draw dates. Although they can be predicted. Each bond has specified date to be scheduled. The bonds ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 10000 has the dates between the first four to six months of a year. Other than then the bonds ranging from Rs 15000 to Rs 40000 has the dates lying between last six months of a year.

The Prize Bonds in Pakistan are available in Rs. 100, 200, 750, 1500, 7500, 15000, 25000, 40000 and 40,000.

The bond of Rs 25000 is the seventh denomination of bonds to be purchased by the customers. This bond is not purchased on a high rate and also the draws are held accordingly.

The first prize for this bond is Rs 50,000,000 that is given to a single lucky winner. The second prize for this bond is Rs 15,000,000 that is given to three lucky winners. The third and final prize for this bond is Rs 312,000 to the first 1696 participants.

The lucky draw is held for four times for each denomination so that it will increase the winning chances of general public. Apart from that, the entire Prize bond is printing by Pakistan Security Printing Corporation; they had printed all the bonds under the approval of Pakistani Government while any other center is not eligible for printing. The first draw was held on 01 February, 2020 this year in Quetta.

The draws were and are held in a sequence that the first draw in a year would be held in the month of February then after two months the second draw will be held in the month of May. Exactly after two months the third draw is held in the month of August then after two months the fourth and last draw is held in the month of November.

 The criteria for releasing the Bond list is in a two-month span throughout the year.
